Misty Copeland: Let The Glo Pals Be Your Spotlight!
March is Women’s History Month - join the Glo Pals in celebrating some of our favorite women who made history! We’ve been seeing lots of our followers enjoying dance parties at home which couldn’t be a more perfect way to celebrate our next inspirational woman, Misty Copeland. Click here for the free printable.
Misty Copeland is an American ballet dancer for the American Ballet Theatre. On June 30 2015, Misty became the first African American woman to be promoted to principal dancer in American Ballet Theatre’s 75-year history. A true prodigy, she was dancing en pointe within three months of taking her first dance class, and performing professionally in just over a year.
The Pals love to get creative with music and dance, and they actually make the perfect spotlights too! Simply drop some different Glo Pals in containers of water, pop on the lids and use them as colorful little lights. We made these ‘Glo Blocks’ in the pictures last year and have been making them again for this exact purpose. Put your kids’ favorite songs on and dance the night away!
Once you’ve had a good dance, enjoy using the Pals to make funny face reflections through the container lids, just like a disco ball! Which Pal’s expression is your favorite?
Another great way to link your Glo Pals to dance is to find children’s songs and rhymes all about colors. Play them on You Tube and as the colors are mentioned ask your kids to dance to that color spotlight. Have fun dancing the night away with your Pals!
