3 Fun Ways to Use Sensory Tools
written by: AUDREY CHANEY
1. in a sensory bin - frozen fun fillers
One way to mix things up when prepping a sensory bin is reezing our Fun Fillers. This is sure to keep your kiddos entertained throughout the spring and summer months! This activity can be done on a rainy day inside or on a warm summer day when the sun is shining. I can guarantee that is will be sure to keep your little ones nice and cool!
Materials:
- Pick Up Pals Sensory Tools
- Sensory bin or tupperware
- Water
- Muffun pan
- Fun Fillers
Directions:
- Sprinkle desired amount of fun filler into each muffin cup.
- Fill each cup up with water, give a little stir.
- Freeze your fun filler cups for a few hours until frozen.
- While you wait, fill one sensory bin on your sensory table with water and leave the other bin empty.
- Once cups are completely frozen, pull out of the freezer and let sit for a couple of minutes to allow them time to loosen up - they will easily slide out after this!
- Place your sparkly cups into the empty bin on your table and use Scooper Squid to scoop water from the other bin to begin the melting process of the frozen cups. Watch them slowly melt and turn your bin into something magical! Tiny Tongs and Puffer Pal will come in handy to pick up and transfer the frozen cups back and forth between bins until all of the frozen cups are completely dissolved. Don’t forget to throw in some Glo Pals at the end to add some pizzazz!
2. bathtime - collect the pom poms
This activity is easy to prep but one that can keep your little ones hands busy for a long time! Who said simple has to be boring?! All you need is the following, and you’re good to go:
Materials:
- Pick Up Pals Sensory Tools
- Bathtub full of water
- Pom poms
Directions:
- Fill bathtub up – add some bubbles for extra fun!
- Throw in as many pom poms as you’d like.
- Add in the Pick up Pals and encourage your kiddo to pick up the pom poms with Tiny Tongs and Scooper Squid and place them into Puffer Pal.
- Repeat indefinitely!
3. in a sandbox - lego excavation
This is an activity you will probably want to do outside since it involves sand. A huge perk about our Pick Up Pals is that they can be used in wet and dry situations, this particular activity being the latter. This doesn’t have to be done with legos but can be done with everyday objects or toys that your can find around the house — think toy animals, buttons, etc.
Materials:
- Pick Up Pals Sensory Tools
- Sandbox, sensory bin or tupperware
- Sand
- Lego bricks or other small trinkets
Directions:
- Fill up your container with sand.
- Hide legos or object of choice throughout the sand.
- Watch as Puffer Pal slowly fills up as your little one uses Scooper Squid and Tiny Tongs to dig for and excavate treasure.
- Repeat indefinitely!
