LIght-Up Learning
WRITTEN BY: AUDREY CHANEY
Hey friend! Back-To-School season is upon us, and I wanted to share a handful of sensory routines that you can spread throughout the day for your kiddo for when school starts back. Sensory rituals can really help support your little one, especially when they’re trying to get used to a new rhythm. Like we’ve talked about before, transitions aren’t always easy! I hope these activities will help keep things running smoothly in your home in the midst of new routines.
Morning Kickstart - The Sensory Play Jar
Waking up can be hard, especially when the alarm clock is going off earlier than it was throughout the summer 🥱My 5 year old, Peter, can be pretty sensitive as he wakes up. The Glo Pals Sensory Play Jar filled with Fun Fillers has become a solid anchor for him as he slowly opens up his eyes for the day. The gentle glow and swirling objects provide just enough stimulation without being overwhelming. It’s not playtime, but it’s also not rush time yet—the jar provides the perfect signal that we’re shifting gears from the warmth of home to a busy day ahead!

After School Reset - Sensory Bin Play
After school at my house is always pretty chaotic. Before I get the kids home, I try to make sure there are plenty of activities for Peter to do while I help his big brothers with after school homework tasks. Sensory bins are one of his go-to favorites. Once he’s dialed in, he’s in his own little world for a solid stretch. A super easy way to keep your little one occupied is putting some Fun Fillers in an ice cube tray, fill it up with water, freeze it overnight, and then use in a sensory bin the next day 🧊 Make sure to include our Pick-Up Pals for all the scooping, pouring, and transferring, and don't forget to let a Glo Pal Character join in on the fun!

Bedtime Wind down - Glo Pals Bath
After a full day and everyone is running low on steam, a sensory filled bath is a great way to start off your bedtime routine. Bubble bath, foam letters, bath crayons, and, of course, Glo Pals Light-Up Cubes and Characters are what end up in our bath 🛁 It’s not overly curated, provides the perfect amount of open ended play, and lets Peter’s imagination take the lead. So, dim the lights, and let the nighttime magic begin! Before you know it, you’ll be slipping your little one into their jammies, diving into a bedtime story, and setting the stage for another day of wonder tomorrow.

Transitions don’t have to be perfect, but with a little planning, they can feel less stressful with sensory activities in place! Whether you try all three or just one that fits your family’s new Back-To-School rhythm, I hope these ideas bring a bit of calm to the chaos. It’s about the little wins—like 5 extra quiet minutes playing in a sensory bin or bath time that ends in giggles. These are the moments that will help your little one adjust to all of the big things happening in their lives! You’ve got this!
As always, please share your magical Glo Pals moments with us over @glopals 🌟 We can’t wait to see how you make the most of this Back-To-School season with your kiddos!
