Learning Through Play With The Light-Up Library
WRITTEN BY: NEETI, M. ED. COUNSELING
As an educator, I know how important literacy is and the lifelong impact it has. Getting the right books in the hands of kids is one of my biggest passions and something I strive to achieve. As a former Reading and Writing teacher, I can say from experience that if we can get the best books in the hands of kids, the rest will fall into place naturally.
Are your kids engaged while reading? One of the hardest aspects for me is making sure my kids are comprehending what they're reading and truly learning from the book. While decoding and fluency practice is so important to build on reading skills, at the end of the day, we want them to do this while comprehending what they're reading. Research has shown that having books at home helps children become lifelong readers, but how can we make reading fun and engaging in the early years? That's the true challenge.
While we are inundated with so many books, it's important for parents to curate a selection specific to their children that will peak their interest and engage them. When books grab the attention of kids and peak their interest, that buy in really offers us an opportunity to help our children develop a love for reading. Enter these amazing, hands-on books. When I saw that Glo Pals had made reading interactive and fun, I knew I had to check it out. Their Light-Up Books come with a Magic Magnifier that lights up as you read, making reading truly magical for kids.

There are 3 books in the Glo Pals Light-Up Library: Alex Asks: What is the Weather, Blair's Backyard of Big Ideas and Pippa's Prehistoric Pals. My kids have dived right in! They come with a Magic Magnifier that you wave over the pages. It's such a delightful surprise to see where the book will light up! Not knowing is part of the fun and my kids keep reading it over and over to see the different pages light up. Learning while having fun and being engaged is key.
