Autism Acceptance Month

WRITTEN BY: JESSIE KOZAK

Autism Acceptance Month means a lot to me-not just as someone who works at Glo Pals, but as a mom to an incredible autistic boy who experiences the world in his own beautiful way.

Before I was part of this brand, I was a customer. A mom just trying to figure things out and support my child in the ways he needed most.

When my son was little, bath time was hard. He was afraid of it. The feeling of water splashing his face, the unpredictability, the layering of so many sensory inputs all at once, it was overwhelming. As a parent, watching your child feel that way is tough. Like so many parents, I was searching for something that could help make bath time feel safe.

That’s when we found Glo Pals.

My son has always been drawn to visual stimulation. Lights, colors, and movement were the things that captured his attention and helped him feel regulated and engaged. So when we dropped those first cubes into the water and they lit up, something shifted. Bath time became less about fear and more about curiosity. Less overwhelming…and a little more magical. And that was just the beginning.

Starting at age 3, I began creating themed sensory bins based on his interests. Whether it was animals, outer space, construction (his favorite!), or holidays, I used play as a way to connect, regulate, and build on the things he already loved. These weren’t just activities, they were opportunities to support his development, encourage communication, and create moments of joy and connection. And honestly? Those became some of my favorite memories. He was non-speaking at 3 and this was a great way to connect and play in his own way with zero pressure.

Now my son is 7 and thriving, and still loves his Glo Pals. The Cubes and Characters are still a go-to in our house, whether it’s for play, winding down, or just adding a little fun to the day. One of our favorite sensory tools is still the Sensory Play Jar, it’s been such a helpful way to support calm-down moments and transitions. It’s simple, but it works. And sometimes, that’s everything.

What makes this even more special is that I now get to be part of the Glo Pals team and connect with other families who are on their own journeys. I see you. I get it. And I’m always here. Whether you’re looking for product recommendations, sensory play ideas, or just someone to talk to who understands, our DMs are always open, and it’s me on the other side of the screen and I'd love to chat any time.
